All of our workshops are designed closely with you to fit your needs in terms of skills development, quantity of participants, time and budget. They are highly interactive and creative, combining: advice, discussion, exercises, experiments, games and practicals to gain skills and build confidence. Wherever appropriate we use equipment such as video cameras, masks, mirrors, audio recording etc and provide workbooks containing relevant theory for participants to read at their leisure. Throughout our workshops we focus the advice, knowledge and experiences on how they apply to each participant in the long term. Regular moments are given for reflection and personal action plans are generated. The end of each workshop considers ‘what next’ and explores development and support options available for, and within, the group, setting up support networks where appropriate.
We love to share our knowledge and teaching skills. Our workshops enable teachers and trainers to enhance their knowledge and skills to best support those they work with, counting towards their own personal and professional development. We combine relevant aspects from our wealth of knowledge in the psychology of communication and inter-personal behaviour, alongside in-depth understanding of the Unified Learning Model, and practical examples of teaching exercises, to create workshops on any aspect of communication e.g. public speaking, interview skills, personal impact, persuasion etc.
When developing soft skills, simply knowing and understanding what to do is not enough, we need to fully experience how to do it, practice, and most importantly understand what might prevent us from succeeding. Our role as coach is to facilitate self-awareness, offer developmental experiences and insights, and provide a safe environment to test out new behaviours. Coaching is highly tailored and targeted at long-term development in any aspect of communication and performance as relevant to the individual and their aims. Coaching programmes are designed to maximise development and includes planning the time in-between sessions so that individuals continue their awareness and practical experience so that skills may be implemented in real-life situations.
We may work with individuals or groups towards a specific event such as an interview, a public speaking engagement, a key presentation, a business pitch etc. Together we might write speeches, practice delivery, role-play interviews, rehearse in the event environment etc. During these more time-bound coaching programmes we concentrate only on those essential changes that will make the biggest difference in the shortest time for all those involved.
Lessons are usually taught on a one-to-one, duo or small group basis and typically last between 30-60 minutes per week during term time, depending on what works best for you. We follow the NEA, Trinity and LAMDA syllabuses (predominantly Public Speaking (NEA & LAMDA), Communication (Trinity) Interview Technique (NEA) & English as a Second Language (NEA)) choosing the most appropriate syllabus for each individual. We focus our lessons towards annual exams and ensure that the grade taken is most appropriate for the student. Exams may be arranged to take place at your organisation or in a public centre accordingly. Exams are open to all ages. We are proud to have a 100% pass rate with over 81% of students achieving distinction. All three examining bodies are highly regarded and recognised by Ofqual. Achieving a distinction at grade 8 (gold medal) is the equivalent to achieving an A-level and all qualifications from grade 6 (bronze medal) and above receive UCAS points for higher education. Evidence based development
This way of working is especially significant for individuals or teams working on regular events such as technical demos, sales training, training workshops, monthly/quarterly update presentations etc. By recording their realtime communication we can enable people to really see and understand for themselves how they communicate in those situations, not just how they perform in the artificial training environment. This enables them to identify for themselves what works, what doesn’t, and how they can specifically improve for greater impact. Team working in this way also encourages self-supporting groups to continue working together to enable each other’s development without the need for further external intervention, dramatically cutting the cost of effective long-term development.
