Working with Schools
Life-skills development sessions
Developing the social skills of your pupils is as important as developing their academic achievement. I can help you prepare them for their future by offering development in areas such as: interviews, public speaking, personal impact, assertiveness, informal business conversation etc. These may take the form of stand-alone workshops, individual or group coaching, or indeed we may devise a programme with some competitive elements.
Public speaking competitions
These can dramatically increase the appeal of developing public speaking skills for your students, especially the older ones. Some may also be talented and interested enough to consider entering the ESU Churchill National Public Speaking Competition for Schools and I would be delighted to coach them for this.
Through Starlight Stars I can offer your school peripatetic lessons in Speech and Drama, following the LAMDA syllabus which includes the option for students to enter examinations. The lessons are usually taught on a one-to-one, duo or small group basis, similar to music lessons, and alongside all the benefits that your pupils will gain including UCAS points from grade 5 onwards, providing these lessons in school can contribute to achieving an ArtsMark Award and may enhance your Ofsted rating.
Creative curriculum activities
I can work with you to bring areas of the curriculum to life through creative sessions using elements such as: devising drama, puppets, masks, video etc.
On any aspect of communication and interpersonal behaviour such as:
- Public speaking to benefit personal performance and to enhance teaching of pupils
- Mask work to enhance understanding and mastery of non-verbal behaviour
- Exploring how to use drama in the classroom to enhance learning or any subject including maths!
- Team building through understanding inter-personal impact and how to adapt own behaviours to influence others
